UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2026: Lakhs of candidates who appeared for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Prelims Exam 2026 are eagerly waiting for their results. The commission is likely to declare the results in the second week of June, though an official date has not yet been announced. Once the results are out, candidates will be able to check their names in a PDF file using their roll numbers on the commission’s website at upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in.

What do previous years’ trends indicate?

Looking at the pattern of the past few years, UPSC generally announces the Prelims result within 15 to 20 days of the exam. Last year, the prelims results were announced on June 11 and in 2024 it was out on July 1.

2025: The exam was conducted on May 25, and the result was declared on June 11.

2024: The exam took place on June 16, and the result was released on July 1.

2023: The exam was held on May 28, and the result was announced on June 12.

2022: The exam was conducted on June 5, and the result came out on June 22.

This year, the UPSC Preliminary exam was held on May 24, 2026. Therefore, candidates are optimistic that the results will be declared soon.

What was last year’s category-wise cut-off?

As per the official data released by UPSC, the cut-off for the Civil Services Prelims Exam 2025 was as follows:

Cut-off marks by category:

General: 92.66

OBC: 92.00

EWS: 89.34

SC: 84.00

ST: 82.66

PWBD-1: 76.66

PWBD-2: 54.66

PWBD-3: 40.66

PWBD-5: 40.66

This cut-off from last year can help candidates roughly estimate their chances of selection this time.

What happens after qualifying the Prelims?

Candidates who score above the cut-off in the Prelims will be eligible to appear directly for the UPSC Civil Services Mains exam. The Mains is scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026. Those who qualify will have to fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF-1) and start focused preparation for answer writing.

After the results are announced, candidates should visit the official UPSC website and check their result in the PDF file using their roll number. If your roll number appears in the list, promptly fill out the DAF-1 and concentrate on answer writing practice, current affairs, and overall preparation for the Mains exam.
