The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced the results of the written examination for the recruitment of Sub Inspectors to 4,543 posts in the UP Police. A total of 12,333 candidates have cleared the written test, which is roughly 2.7 times the number of available vacancies.
The Document Verification (DV) and Physical Standard Test (PST) for successful candidates are scheduled to begin in the third week of May. The results are available on the Board’s official website, uppbpb.gov.in. Overall, 15,75,760 candidates had applied for this recruitment. The written examination for the UP Police Sub Inspector posts was conducted on March 14 and 15, 2026.
Under this recruitment drive, 4,543 Sub Inspector positions will be filled, and the Board has shortlisted candidates at about 2.7 times the number of advertised posts for the next phase. Altogether, 12,333 candidates have qualified in the written examination and will move forward to the subsequent stage of the selection process.
The examination attracted immense interest from the youth. According to the Board, 15,75,760 applications were received, making this one of the largest police recruitment exercises in the state.
The written examination was held on March 14 and 15, 2026 at multiple centres across Uttar Pradesh. The Board implemented special measures to maintain security and transparency and to prevent any malpractice during the exam. Candidates who have passed the written test must now undergo DV and PST. As per the Board, these processes will start in the third week of May 2026, and a detailed schedule along with admit cards will be issued separately.

UP Police SI Recruitment Results 2026 Out: What’s Next?
Those who qualified in the written examination will first be called for document verification, during which educational certificates, reservation-related documents, and identity proofs will be examined. This will be followed by the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
In the PET, male candidates will have to complete a race within a specified time, while separate standards will apply to female candidates. Candidates who clear all these stages will then undergo a medical examination. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the written examination and other prescribed procedures, after which the selected candidates will be sent for training.
