Karnataka News: After a nearly 15-day lull in rainfall, the southwest monsoon has regained momentum across Karnataka, bringing widespread showers and heavy rainfall to several parts of the state. The renewed spell of rain has been particularly intense in the coastal and Malenadu regions, where persistent downpours over the past few days have led authorities to step up precautionary measures.

In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall, an Orange Alert has been issued for Sirsi, Siddapur and Joida taluks in Uttara Kannada district. As a precaution, the district administration has declared a holiday for all Anganwadi centres and schools in the three taluks on Friday.

The order was issued by Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya, who said the decision had been taken to ensure the safety of children and staff amid the expectation of continued heavy rain. The holiday applies to educational institutions and Anganwadi centres located in the affected taluks.

The return of widespread rainfall follows a fortnight-long dry spell, with the monsoon now becoming active once again across the state. Several districts have witnessed steady to heavy showers over the past few days, while the coastal belt and Malenadu region have recorded particularly intense rainfall.

Authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as heavy rain is expected to continue in parts of Uttara Kannada. Further advisories and precautionary measures may be issued depending on the evolving weather conditions.
