A candidate from the IIT Delhi zone, Shubham Kumar has secured All India Rank 1 in the extremely challenging JEE Advanced 2026 exam. He scored 330 out of 360 marks in the exam.
Shubham Kumar belongs to a modest middle-class family from the Gaya district of Bihar. His father, Shiv Kumar, runs a small hardware shop in Gaya, and his mother, Kanchan Devi, is a homemaker. The family did not have any luxuries or VIP facilities, but Shubham’s parents never allowed anything to compromise his education. He was an excellent student from childhood, with a special interest in mathematics and science.
After completing his early schooling in Gaya, he moved to Kota (Rajasthan), the country’s largest education hub, where he devoted himself entirely to JEE preparation. The JEE topper’s next goal is to pursue Computer Science Engineering at IIT Bombay, the country’s premier engineering institute. This is the inspiring journey of how the son of a small hardware shopkeeper became the nation’s top IITian.
Shubham’s talent is evident from his outstanding performance in the JEE Mains 2026 exam, which he cleared before appearing for JEE Advanced. In Session 1 of JEE Mains, he scored 300 out of 300, securing a 100 percentile. From then on, expectations were high that he would excel in Advanced as well. That is exactly what happened: in the JEE Advanced 2026 results declared by IIT Roorkee, he secured All India Rank 1 with a score of 330 out of 360.
Shubham credits his remarkable success to the blessings of his parents, the guidance of his teachers, and the competitive environment of Kota, Rajasthan. He believes that cracking a tough exam like JEE does not require any magic formula, but rather consistency. During his preparation, Shubham completely stayed away from social media and devoted 7 to 8 hours each day to focused, quality study. He regularly attempted JEE mock tests and worked diligently on correcting his mistakes.
After the declaration of the JEE Advanced results, Shubham Kumar is now set to take part in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling process. The JEE Advanced topper has clearly stated that his first and only choice is the country’s most prestigious IIT Bombay campus, where he plans to study Computer Science Engineering. Shubham dreams of achieving path-breaking and innovative success in the field of coding and software, and of bringing glory to his country on the global stage.
