The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams, project assessments and internal assessments for the 2026-27 academic session in winter-bound schools.

According to the circular dated November 5, the exams and assessments will be conducted from November 9 to December 19, 2026. The board has issued the schedule early because schools in winter-bound regions are expected to remain closed during January.

For other CBSE-affiliated schools, the practical exams and assessments are scheduled to begin from January 1, 2027. The board will issue a separate circular with instructions for schools following the regular academic session.

CBSE has directed winter-bound schools to prepare the final list of candidates and ensure that only students whose names have been submitted through the online List of Candidates (LOC) are allowed to appear for the practical exams, project assessments and internal assessments.

For Class 10, the internal assessment will be conducted only once. Schools must complete the assessment and upload marks for all candidates within the prescribed schedule.

Schools have also been asked to contact their respective CBSE regional offices for the appointment of external examiners and observers, wherever required. They must ensure that practical examinations and project work are completed on time. Answer books for Class 12 practical exams must be sent to the concerned regional offices.

CBSE Practical Exam Guidelines:

To ensure fair assessment, schools must conduct practical exams and project assessments in two or three sessions a day if the number of students exceeds 30. The number of sessions will depend on the laboratory facilities available at the school.

CBSE has also made it mandatory for schools to upload group photographs of each batch appearing for practical examinations. The board will provide an app link for submitting these photographs.

Schools must complete all practical exams, project assessments and internal assessments, and upload the marks within the prescribed timeline.

Students should contact their respective schools for subject-wise practical exam schedules and further instructions.
