The JEE Advanced 2026 exam is scheduled for May 17, 2026, for admission to various undergraduate (B.Tech) programmes at the IITs. The last date to apply for JEE Advanced is May 2, 2026. Although IIT fees are generally lower than those of many other engineering colleges, they may still be a burden for middle-class families. Those who secure admission to IIT Delhi, your educational expenses can be partially reduced through scholarships and financial assistance.

IIT Delhi is one of the 23 IITs in India that have set up Centres of Excellence dedicated to training, research, and development in science, engineering, and technology. According to the institute’s official website, IIT Delhi is committed to fostering academic excellence by supporting students throughout their academic journey.

IIT Delhi Scholarships

IIT Delhi provides a range of scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid to deserving and financially needy students. These include:

1. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to undergraduate students in engineering and technology, as well as students enrolled in MA, MSc, and MPP programmes. Around 25% of these scholarships are granted to students whose annual family income is up to Rs 8 lakh.

The current scholarship amount is Rs 4,000 per month, and recipients are also exempted from paying tuition fees. To continue receiving this scholarship, students must maintain a minimum SGPA and CGPA of 6.

2. Institute Free Studentship

IIT Delhi offers a tuition fee waiver to 10% of students based purely on financial need, provided that more than 25% of students qualify for the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship.

3. Tuition Fee Waiver for SC, ST and PwD Students

All students belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories are granted a full tuition fee waiver, regardless of their parental income.

4. Free Mess and Pocket Allowance

Under this scheme, the cost of the basic mess menu is covered, and students from SC and ST categories receive a pocket allowance of Rs 1,000 per month for a specified duration, depending on their programme. Students with a family income of less than Rs 8 lakh per year are eligible for this benefit and must submit valid proof of family income every year.

5. Donor Scholarships

IIT Delhi offers several donor-funded scholarships for undergraduate students. These are awarded based on factors such as family income, programme, gender, branch, JEE rank, and academic performance (SGPA/CGPA).

These scholarships are funded through contributions from alumni, individuals, trusts, and organisations. Most donor scholarships are processed automatically by the Institute’s Academics Department.
