What Happens to the Provisional Answer Key?
The previously released provisional answer key and any objections filed for the cancelled exam are no longer relevant, since the examination will be conducted afresh.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced revised dates for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026. The examination will now be conducted on December 12 and 13, 2026. “It is hereby informed that the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be conducted on 12th and 13th December 2026,” states the official notice.
According to the revised schedule, candidates will be informed about their allotted examination city and date 15 days before the exam. The details will be available on the official CTET portal. Admit cards containing the exam centre details will be released two days before the test. This means candidates can expect the examination city information around November 27 or 28, while the admit cards are likely to be available from December 10.
The CTET September 2026 was originally scheduled for September 6, but later postponed. The CBSE subsequently reopened the application window after the Supreme Court directed that eligible teachers should be given a fair and adequate opportunity to acquire the required Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the CBSE to assess candidates’ eligibility for teaching positions for Classes 1 to 8. Candidates must secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks to clear the CTET. For candidates in the General category, the qualifying score is 90 out of 150 marks, or 60%. For SC and ST candidates, the qualifying requirement is 82 out of 150 marks, or 55%.
The examination consists of two papers: Paper 1 for candidates seeking to teach Classes 1 to 5; and Paper 2 for candidates seeking to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates can appear for either or both papers, depending on the classes they wish to teach.
What happens after clearing CTET?
Qualifying CTET makes candidates eligible to apply for teaching positions in various central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, subject to the eligibility criteria of the respective recruitment process.
However, clearing CTET does not guarantee appointment. Candidates must fulfil the additional eligibility requirements prescribed for individual posts and qualify the recruitment and selection process conducted by the respective organisation.
