With a series of holidays lined up for Telangana students in August, many families are looking forward to planning trips, visiting hometowns, or spending quality time together. Following recent closures of educational institutions due to student union protests, heavy rainfall, and festival occasions, the possibility of another consecutive holiday break has drawn the attention of students and parents. Although August has 31 days, schools and colleges in Telangana are expected to observe up to 10 holidays during the month, including government-declared holidays, Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays. As per the currently available holiday schedule, schools and colleges may get a three-day holiday stretch from August 8 to August 10. While August 8 falls on the second Saturday, which is generally observed as a holiday for educational institutions; Sunday, August 9, is a regular holiday. If the Telangana government officially announces August 10 as a holiday for the Bonalu festival, students will enjoy a continuous three-day break. Furthermore, August 15 (Saturday) is a holiday due to Independence day, followed by August 16 which is a Sunday and August 17 (Monday) is Nag Panchami. Some schools may once again observe a three-day holiday on this weekend. However, it is advisable to check the schedule with the respective schools beforehand. (File/Representative)

One must note that all banks across India will observe a holiday on August 15 for Independence Day. Additional holidays include Sunday, August 16, the fourth Saturday on August 22, and Sunday, August 23. Some regions, including Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, will observe a holiday on August 25 for Milad-un-Nabi/First Onam. Banks in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and several other states will remain closed on August 26 for Eid-e-Milad/Thiruvonam. Certain states will also observe bank holidays on August 28 for Raksha Bandhan and other regional festivals. Banks will again remain closed on August 30 due to Sunday. (Representative image/PTI)
