Thousands of students across India are waiting anxiously for the UGC NET provisional answer key. The exam was conducted from June 22 to June 30, with an extra exam date on July 5 for some papers. Around 10 lakh candidates appeared for the exam at more than 600 centres across the country.

Usually, the National Testing Agency (NTA) releases the provisional answer key within 10 to 15 days after the exam. In the June 2023 session, students received the answer key within just five days. However, this time, nearly a month has passed since the final exam date, and there is still no update from NTA.

The delay has created uncertainty among students because UGC NET results are important for those seeking Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), assistant professor positions, and PhD admissions. Without the answer key, many candidates are unable to plan their academic and career decisions.

Several student groups and college unions have raised their concerns and asked NTA to explain the reason behind the delay. Many students have also expressed their frustration on social media. Some candidates claimed that there were repeated questions and typographical errors in the Sociology paper.

On social media platform X, one student wrote, “Every morning I check for a UGC NET update and every day it’s the same. It’s frustrating to have your future on hold because of silence. We’re not asking for favors, just a timely answer key.”

Another student expressed anger, saying that lakhs of candidates were facing uncertainty and that delays were affecting their academic plans and careers.

A third candidate wrote, “It has been over a month since the UGC NET June 2026 examination, yet the provisional answer key is still awaited. This silence is becoming increasingly concerning.”

The delay has become a bigger concern because it follows other examination-related controversies involving NTA including the NEET paper leak case and resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Students feel that the lack of communication has made the situation more stressful and difficult to understand.
