Talliki Vandanam Scheme: The Andhra Pradesh government has started releasing the second instalment of financial assistance under the Talliki Vandanam scheme for the 2026-27 academic year. Under the scheme, Rs 13,000 is being directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible mothers and guardians from Wednesday, while the remaining Rs 2,000 will be allocated towards school management as per the scheme guidelines. According to NTV Telugu, 41.07 lakh mothers will receive payments in the current instalment, benefiting 64.76 lakh students across the state. Overall, the government has allocated Rs 10,120.78 crore under the scheme for the current academic year, with 67.47 lakh students and 42.70 lakh mothers and guardians expected to benefit.

Rs 13,000 To Be Credited Directly to Mothers: Under the Talliki Vandanam scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government provides annual financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per student studying from Class 1 to Intermediate (Class 12). Of this amount, Rs 13,000 is directly transferred to the bank account of the student’s mother or guardian, while Rs 2,000 is earmarked for school management expenses. The Education Department has already issued orders releasing Rs 10,120.78 crore for this year’s disbursement.

Who Will Benefit From the Scheme? The Talliki Vandanam scheme covers students studying from Class 1 to Intermediate in Andhra Pradesh. This year, around 67.47 lakh students across the state are expected to receive assistance, with payments being made into the accounts of 42.70 lakh mothers and guardians. The government has also expanded the scheme to include the children of Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi helpers (Aayas) and sanitation workers, fulfilling a promise made by the coalition government during the Assembly elections. The Education Department recently issued orders extending the benefits to these additional categories of beneficiaries.

Although the fund release has begun, the government has said beneficiaries may receive the amount at different times during the day. Parents who do not receive the money immediately have been advised not to panic, as the amount may be credited by Wednesday evening or on Thursday, depending on banking processes. Officials have said the transfer process may take a few hours after the funds are released.

New Admissions Will Receive Money Later: Students admitted to schools during the current admission cycle will not receive the payment in the present instalment. The government said fresh admissions will first be verified before assistance is released. Admissions will be reviewed until August 25, after which the list of eligible beneficiaries will be published on August 30. Payments to newly eligible beneficiaries are also scheduled to be credited on the same day.

Eligibility Criteria for Talliki Vandanam: To receive assistance under the scheme, beneficiaries must fulfil the eligibility conditions laid down by the state government. The monthly family income should not exceed Rs 10,000 in rural areas and Rs 12,000 in urban areas. Families must possess a ration (rice) card, while students should have maintained at least 75 per cent attendance during the previous academic year. The government said eligibility details and beneficiary information can also be accessed through the Mana Mitra WhatsApp service and the LEAP app.

Who Is Not Eligible? The government has excluded certain categories from the scheme. Students pursuing ITI, Polytechnic and RGUKT (IIIT) courses will not receive benefits as they are already covered under separate fee reimbursement schemes. Families paying income tax and government employees are not eligible. Households owning cars are also excluded, although ownership of commercial vehicles such as taxis, auto-rickshaws or tractors does not affect eligibility. Families living in houses larger than 1,000 square feet in municipal areas, those consuming more than 300 units of electricity, or those owning more than three acres of wet land or 10 acres of dry land are also not eligible for assistance.

What To Do If You Do Not Receive the Money? Parents who do not receive the amount have been advised to first verify whether their Aadhaar is linked with their bank account through NPCI mapping. They should also ensure their KYC details are updated, Aadhaar is linked with their mobile number and all bank details are correctly registered. Beneficiaries can also visit their local village or ward secretariat to verify whether their names appear on the eligible beneficiary list. The status of the scheme can also be checked online using the Aadhaar number through the government’s beneficiary portals.

Objections Can Be Filed Until August 3: Parents who believe they are eligible but do not receive assistance can submit objections at Swarna Gram or Swarna Ward Secretariats between July 22 and August 3. The government will review the applications between August 4 and August 10 before preparing a supplementary beneficiary list. Officials said cases involving issues such as duplicate Aadhaar numbers, pending verification or the death of the mother can also be resolved during this process. In such cases, eligible families may nominate the father or another guardian after verification. Eligible beneficiaries cleared during the review process are expected to receive their payments on August 30.

Scheme Aims To Reduce Education Expenses: The Talliki Vandanam scheme was introduced to reduce the financial burden on families with school-going children by providing annual assistance towards education expenses. While many parents have welcomed the financial support, some have pointed out that private school fees often exceed the assistance provided under the scheme. There have also been demands for further improvements in the quality of education in government schools alongside continued financial support for families.
