Panshul Bansal, a student from Faridabad, Haryana, always believed that one exam could not decide his future. In the NEET UG 2026 re-exam, he scored 715 out of 720 marks and secured All India Rank (AIR) 2, becoming one of the highest scorers in the country. Earlier, he scored a 99.5 percentile in JEE Main 2026.
Panshul enjoyed studying from a young age. While he was in Class 7, he decided that he wanted to become a doctor. After making that decision, he stayed focused on his goal. Around two years ago, he even told one of his teachers that he would be among the NEET toppers one day. What started as a dream slowly became reality through consistent hard work.
Before his first NEET exam, Panshul felt well prepared and believed he would perform well. However, he became nervous during the exam, which affected his performance. After calculating his score, he expected around 696 marks. Although it was a good score, it was lower than what he had hoped for.
After that result, Panshul started preparing again with a different mindset. Instead of worrying about scores, he focused on understanding concepts. He also treated every mock test as if it were the actual NEET exam, which helped him build confidence and improve his performance.
When the opportunity to appear for the NEET re-exam came, he looked at it as a fresh chance. This time, he stayed calm and trusted the effort he had put into his preparation.
Panshul had also scored 94% in both his Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.
No Long Study Hours, Never Used AI
Furthermore, Panshul says he never used AI and preferred traditional methods. Whenever he faced difficulty in any topic, he discussed it with his teachers and referred to textbooks until he understood it properly. He feels this helped him build a stronger understanding of the subjects.
Panshul believes that success is not about studying for the longest number of hours. In his opinion, students should make the best use of their study time by staying focused. During his preparation, he spent more time solving challenging questions and practising mock tests instead of simply studying for long hours.
Apart from academics, music has always been an important part of his life. He enjoys playing the piano and says it helped him stay relaxed during exam preparation. He has earned a Grade 4 certificate from Rock School and a Grade 2 certificate from Trinity College London. According to Panshul, having a hobby helped him manage stress and maintain a healthy balance while preparing for competitive exams.
Never Cut Himself From Social Life
Despite preparing for one of the toughest exams, Panshul did not completely cut himself off from social life. After each exam phase, he spent time with his friends to relax. He also watched YouTube videos, enjoyed animated cartoons, and took breaks whenever needed. He believes that staying mentally fresh helps students study more effectively.
Panshul says his family played an important role in his success. His father, Sanjeev Kumar Bansal, is a businessman with a background in naval engineering, while his mother, Monica Bansal, is a company secretary. According to him, his parents never pressured him to choose medicine or any other career. They allowed him to make his own decisions, which made him feel more responsible and motivated toward his studies.
Panshul Bansal achieved top ranks through consistent hard work, focusing on quality study and regular practice of questions rather than long study hours. He discussed difficulties with teachers and referred to textbooks.
