The Central Sanskrit University has announced that it will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Pre-Ayurveda (NEET-PA) for admission to its Pre-Ayurveda Programme for the 2026-27 academic session. The exam registration process will begin in the third week of July. Those who have passed class 10 are eligible to apply. The detailed notification will be released along with the online registration forms.

Established through an Act of Parliament, the university will use NEET-PA as the entrance examination for admission to the two-year Pre-Ayurveda course, which serves as the foundation for the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) programme. The programme has been approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).

The BAMS course follows a 7.5 years structure – 2+4.5+1 – comprising two years of Pre-Ayurveda, four and a half years of undergraduate medical studies, and one year of compulsory rotary internship. The programme will be offered through Ayurveda Gurukulams affiliated with the Central Sanskrit University.

The university is expected to conduct NEET-PA 2026 on either August 30, 2026 (Sunday) or September 6, 2026 (Sunday). The final examination date will be notified by the university in due course.

NEET PA Eligibility Criteria

As per the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (Pre-Ayurveda for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) Regulations, 2024, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class 10 under the 10+2 or 5+3+3+4 education pattern from a recognised board, including recognised Sanskrit boards or equivalent institutions.

Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 15 years of age as on or before December 31, 2026. The maximum age limit is 25 years. No relaxation has been provided based on gender or category.

NEET-PA Exam Pattern

The entrance test will be conducted in offline (OMR-based) mode and will have 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). It will be held for a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes (or 150 minutes). Each question will carry one mark. There is no negative marking. The exam will be held in Sanskrit, Hindi and English.

Unreserved Category candidates must secure a minimum of 50% to pass the exam while  SC, ST, OBC, and PwD category candidates must secure at least 40%.
