Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked at a gurdwara in Nanded, Maharashtra, on Thursday. He suffered an injury to his hand and was taken to a private hospital, where doctors said he was out of danger. Police said the attacker was detained after the incident.

The attack took place while Badal was visiting Gurdwara Mata Sahib Deva Ji in Nanded. According to police, the accused allegedly tried to stab him, but security personnel intervened.

Sukhbir Singh Badal is the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal and has served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab. He has also represented Punjab in Parliament and held the post of Union Minister of State for Industry.
