People often say that no power in the world can stop a person who is truly determined to work hard. Chandni Vishwakarma from Bhopal has proved this. Despite growing up in extremely difficult circumstances, she topped the Madhya Pradesh Board Class 12 exams, scoring 494 out of 500, and set a remarkable example.

Chandni comes from a slum in Bhim Nagar, Bhopal. Studying in the Commerce stream, she not only outshone the Commerce toppers but also scored higher than students from all other streams. Her achievement has filled the entire city with pride, reported Hindustan Live.

Her journey was not easy. Chandni’s father, Rambhuvan Vishwakarma, is a carpenter. During Diwali last year, he met with an accident and lost a finger, which forced him to stop working. The family went through a very tough time due to his long treatment and the financial crisis that followed. These hardships, however, only strengthened Chandni’s resolve.

With her father unable to work, the responsibility of running the household fell on her mother. She took up work as a cleaner and childcare worker in a government school. Even in such trying conditions, her mother ensured that Chandni’s education never stopped. The struggles at home became her biggest motivation to move ahead.

Chandni studied at Gurudev Shiksha Kendra in Neelbad under the Right to Education (RTE) scheme. Her father had no idea how hard she was working. Quietly and steadily, Chandni stayed focused on her goal until she suddenly emerged as the state topper.

She shared that she used to set a daily target for her studies and devoted 6 to 8 hours every day to meet it. Mathematics was her weakest subject, but she refused to give up and kept working on it. Her favourite subject was Accounting, in which she performed exceptionally well.

Even reaching school was a daily struggle. The school was far from her home, and she had to first take an auto to Depot Square and then board a bus to get to school. Yet, this long and tiring commute never distracted her from her studies.

Now, Chandni dreams of becoming an officer in the Indian Army. She is preparing for the NDA exam. Her aim is to serve the nation and bring honour to her family.
