Pune Changes Primary School Timings Till August 31; Here’s Why
Pune News: Students and parents in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area will have to follow a revised school schedule after the civic administration temporarily changed the timings of all primary schools for two months. The new timings came into effect on July 1 and will remain in force until August 31, 2026, covering both municipal-run and private primary schools within the PMC limits.

New School Timings: Under the revised schedule, all primary schools will function from 7 am to 12.15 pm between July 1 and August 31, 2026. The Pune Municipal Corporation said the revised timings are mandatory for both civic-run and private primary schools in the city. Parents have been advised to take note of the new schedule before sending their children to school during the two months.

Why Have School Timings Changed? The temporary change has been introduced to facilitate the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Voter List Revision Campaign. A large number of primary school teachers have been assigned election-related duties as part of the nationwide exercise.

The revised school hours are intended to ensure that teachers have sufficient time to carry out these responsibilities while minimising disruption to students’ education. According to the civic administration, the revised schedule strikes a balance between supporting the Election Commission’s work and ensuring that classroom teaching continues with minimal academic loss.

The Pune Municipal Corporation has urged parents and guardians to follow the revised timings until August 31, after which regular school hours are expected to resume.
