The National Testing Agency has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 and announced that a re-examination will be held on fresh dates to be notified later. The decision was taken after inputs examined with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities indicated that the current examination process “could not be allowed to stand”.

The government has also decided to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive inquiry. NTA said no fresh registration will be required for candidates, no additional examination fee will be charged, and the existing registration data and exam centres will be carried forward. The agency also announced that fees already paid by students will be refunded.
