Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an important part of learning and working in India for students, teachers, software developers and other professionals as it helps them learn better, save time and improve their work. According to the Anthropic Economic Index report, people in India are using AI for many activities, including homework, education, coding, resume preparation and professional tasks.

The report shows that 19.3% of Claude.ai conversations in India are connected to education and learning. Homework-related questions alone make up 7.9% of these interactions. Many Indians also use Claude for content creation and writing tasks, such as making resumes, writing social media posts and preparing marketing material, reported The Hindu.

The report found that Indian users rely on Claude more than the global average for areas like mathematics and computer science theory, AI application development, document editing and web development. For example, the use of artificial intelligence for math and computer science theory in India is twice the global average, while AI application development is 1.8 times higher.

Anthropic’s report also shows that people are starting to use AI for more advanced and everyday tasks instead of only asking simple questions. For example, news-related searches are more common around 6 am, business email writing requests increase during the morning, and recipe-related questions become much more frequent around 6 pm. During weekends, personal use of AI rises from 35% to nearly 50%, with people using AI for emotional support, health-related information and investment guidance.

The Anthropic Economic Index report is based on a privacy-focused survey of 9,700 randomly selected Claude users from different countries.
