IIT Admission Without JEE: Lakhs of students across the country dream of studying at a prestigious engineering institute like IIT. However, not everyone is able to clear challenging exams like JEE Main and JEE Advanced. IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that does not require a JEE score. This means students can now join the institute without even appearing for the JEE exam.

The institute has started online applications. Interested students can apply by visiting the official IIT Madras portal – study.iitm.ac.in. The last date for applications is June 5, 2026.

Which Courses Offered By IIT Madras?

Under this programme, IIT Madras is offering a Bachelor of Science degree in two of the most sought-after future-oriented fields.

The first course is Data Science and Applications. The demand for data science and artificial intelligence is increasing rapidly. This course will cover topics such as data analysis, machine learning, and coding.

The second course is Electronic Systems. Semiconductor and electronic manufacturing are growing rapidly in India. This course will teach students about hardware, circuit design, and embedded systems.

Who Can Apply?

Any student who has passed the 12th grade from a recognised board can apply. Students who have just completed the 11th grade and are currently in the class 12th can also apply in advance; however, their course will start only after they complete the 12th grade. There is no age limit.

For the Data Science course, students from any stream – Science, Arts, or Commerce – can apply, but they must have studied Math at least up to the 10th grade level.

Admission Without JEE Main or JEE Advanced Score

IIT Madras follows a unique admission process for this programme. After applying, students must complete a four-week online course that includes training in basic Math, English, and coding. After this, a qualifying exam is conducted. Students who score above the required cut-off in this exam are directly admitted to the BS programme. Importantly, there is no seat limit – any student who clears the qualifying exam will get admission.

Furthermore, this courses has been designed to be very flexible under the New Education Policy (NEP). Even if a student has to drop out for some reason, their efforts will not go to waste.

– After completing 1 year, the student will receive a Foundation Certificate.

– After completing 2 years, the student will be awarded a Diploma.

– After completing 3 years, the student will receive a Bachelor’s Degree.

– After completing 4 years, the student will receive a BS degree from IIT Madras and will gain Alumni Status of the institute.

This programme at IIT Madras is a major opportunity for students who could not clear the JEE but still dream of studying at an IIT.
