The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is expected to begin the CRP RRBs-XV recruitment process for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). The recruitment will cover several posts, including Office Assistant (Multipurpose), commonly known as RRB Clerk, and Officer Scale I, II and III. As per reports, the online application process for the Office Assistant post is expected to begin on September 1, 2026, and continue until September 21, 2026.

However, candidates should note that the final application dates, number of vacancies, eligibility criteria, application fee and other details will be confirmed only after IBPS releases the official notification.

When will the IBPS RRB Clerk exam be held?

The Office Assistant selection process will include a preliminary examination followed by a main examination.

As per the tentative schedule, the RRB Clerk preliminary exam is expected to be conducted on December 6, 12 and 13, 2026, while the main examination is scheduled for January 30, 2027.

For other RRB posts, the tentative schedule includes the Officer Scale I preliminary exam on November 21 and 22, 2026, followed by its main examination in December. The Officer Scale II and III examinations are expected to be held on December 20, 2026.

These dates should be treated as tentative until IBPS confirms them through its official notification.

Who can apply for IBPS RRB Clerk?

Candidates applying for the Office Assistant post are generally required to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised institution.

Knowledge of the local language prescribed for the Regional Rural Bank concerned is also required. The exact language requirement will depend on the state and RRB.

The expected age limit for Office Assistant is 18 to 28 years. The exact cut-off date for calculating age will be mentioned in the official notification.

Age relaxation will be available to eligible reserved-category candidates according to government rules. Generally, SC and ST candidates receive five years of relaxation, OBC candidates three years and PwBD candidates 10 years, subject to the final eligibility rules.

How many IBPS RRB Clerk vacancies will be announced?

IBPS has not yet announced the final number of Office Assistant vacancies for CRP RRBs-XV. Based on previous recruitment cycles, the number could be in the range of 6,000 to 8,500, but this is only an estimate and should not be treated as the official vacancy count.

The final state-wise and RRB-wise vacancy details will be available only after IBPS releases the recruitment notification.

IBPS RRB Clerk selection process

The selection process for Office Assistant includes Prelims and Mains, and there is no interview for this post.

The preliminary examination is used to shortlist candidates for the main exam. Marks obtained in the Prelims are not added to the final merit list. Instead, the final selection is based on performance in the Main examination.

Therefore, candidates should start preparing for the Main exam alongside their Prelims preparation rather than waiting until the preliminary exam is over.

IBPS RRB Clerk Prelims exam pattern

The preliminary examination consists of 80 questions carrying 80 marks. Candidates get 45 minutes to complete the paper.

There are two sections: Reasoning and Numerical Ability, with 40 questions from each section.

Candidates should be careful while attempting questions because 0.25 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

IBPS RRB Clerk Mains exam pattern

The Main examination consists of 200 questions for 200 marks, with a total duration of two hours.

The paper covers Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English or Hindi, and Computer Knowledge.

Since the Main examination determines the final merit for the Office Assistant post, candidates should give equal importance to all the subjects while preparing.

What is the IBPS RRB Clerk salary?

The basic pay for an Office Assistant is generally around Rs 19,900. Along with basic pay, employees receive various allowances and benefits.

The actual gross and in-hand salary can vary depending on the place of posting and the rules applicable to the concerned Regional Rural Bank. Current estimates put the in-hand salary at around Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000, although the final amount may vary.
