Success Story: Balancing household responsibilities, a full-time job and motherhood is challenging enough. Yet Ruchi Rani refused to let those responsibilities stand in the way of her dream.
After nearly four and a half years of relentless preparation, Ruchi secured the 260th rank in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, earning her a place in the Bihar Administrative Service as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
Her journey has now become an inspiring story of perseverance, discipline and family support.
Fulfilling Her Mother’s Unfinished Dream
For Ruchi, the achievement was about more than just clearing a competitive examination. She says her biggest motivation was her mother, who had once aspired to become a Bihar Administrative Service officer through the BPSC examination. Although her mother appeared for the exam, she was never selected.
Determined to fulfil that unfulfilled dream, Ruchi carried the aspiration forward as her own, drawing strength from it during every setback and difficult phase of her preparation.
Current Affairs While Cooking, Studies After Children Slept
Ruchi believes that effective time management was the foundation of her success. She made every minute count by listening to current affairs on her mobile phone while cooking, studying late into the night after putting her children to bed, and using spare moments during office hours to revise.
According to her, a clear goal can turn even the smallest pockets of free time into opportunities for learning.
Ruchi says success in examinations such as the BPSC does not come through a few months of preparation. She dedicated nearly four and a half years to consistent study, enduring moments of disappointment without giving up. She believes patience and sustained hard work remain the most important ingredients for success.
Husband’s Support Became Her Biggest Strength
Ruchi credits much of her success to the unwavering support of her family, especially her husband, Prabhakar Bhardwaj.
He said society should not judge women’s capabilities based on isolated incidents or stereotypes. Instead, he stressed that encouragement from family members plays a crucial role in helping women realise their ambitions.
He also appealed to families to give their wives, sisters and mothers every opportunity to pursue their dreams.
‘I Want My Story To Inspire Other Women’
Ruchi hopes her journey encourages more women to believe in their own potential.
Referring to achievers such as Shreyasi Singh, Maithili Thakur and President Droupadi Murmu, she said dedication, a positive mindset and honest effort can help anyone overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
She urged young people to stay away from negativity, remain focused on their aspirations and pursue them with sincerity and determination.
