Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has directed the deployment of technical experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in resolving technical issues related to its post-examination re-evaluation services portal.

The Ministry of Education announced the move in a press release following widespread complaints from students and parents regarding glitches on the CBSE portal after the declaration of board examination results.

Ministry Orders Urgent Technical Review

In view of the recent developments and concerns raised by students and parents regarding the CBSE post-result services portal, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has given directions to depute a team of professors and technical experts from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to assist the Central Board of Secondary Education in ensuring a glitch-free re-evaluation process,” the Education Ministry said in a press release.

According to the Ministry, the decision was taken after reports emerged highlighting technical challenges affecting the functioning of the board’s post-examination services portal.

The expert teams from the IITs will examine all technical glitches reported since the launch of this year’s re-evaluation services. Their tasks include improving portal stability, strengthening server performance, and reviewing the robustness of the overall IT infrastructure.

“The expert teams will implement focused technological improvements of the systems and technical workflows and will specifically examine portal stability and server performance. The team will also examine the overall IT Infrastructure robustness and assist in taking corrective measures to ensure that login authentication/ user access systems/ payment gateways are accurate and in order,” the statement added.

The teams will also assist CBSE in implementing corrective measures related to login authentication systems, user access mechanisms, and payment gateways to ensure smooth functioning of the portal.

The Ministry said the initiative is aimed at ensuring a transparent and seamless process for students seeking re-evaluation and other post-result services.

Minister Pradhan reiterated that student welfare remains the government’s top priority and stressed the need for urgent corrective measures to ensure a transparent, efficient and student-friendly system.

Students Face Re-Evaluation Portal Glitches

Further, the Education Minister has also sought a report from the CBSE over the tech glitches.

Several Class 10 and 12 students reported failed payment transactions, website crashes and delays while applying for verification of marks and photocopies of evaluated answer sheets after the board results were declared earlier this month.

CBSE Extends Application Deadline After Complaints

Students also flagged abnormal fee amounts on the portal. While CBSE charges Rs 100 per subject for photocopies, screenshots on social media showed fees suddenly rising to amounts such as Rs 8,000, Rs 67,000 and Rs 69,420 per subject, triggering concerns over a possible technical glitch.

Following the complaints, CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta extended the application deadline from May 23 to May 24.
