Amid this widespread discontent, students have made serious allegations on social media about technical glitches and errors in CBSE’s post-result service portal. As the controversy grew, the CBSE itself stepped in and issued a detailed clarification. The board has not only claimed that the portal is functioning smoothly, but has also explained the real reason behind technical messages like ‘Roll Number Not Found’.

Review Sought For Over 3.8 Lakh Answer Sheets

According to official CBSE data, a record number of applications were received during the window from June 2 to June 7, 2026. More than 1.6 lakh candidates across the country successfully applied for verification and re-evaluation of over 3.8 lakh answer sheets. Many students have requested re-checking of marks in more than one subject, highlighting the extent of confusion about this year’s evaluation.

CBSE’s Clarification: IIT Monitored Portal

Rejecting complaints about portal crashes and technical faults, CBSE clarified that the re-evaluation portal remained fully functional from June 2 to 7. According to the board, special teams from government technical agencies and IITs were deployed to manage the digital traffic. Cybersecurity teams monitored the process throughout, ensuring that no student faced any difficulty in submitting their forms.

Reason Behind ‘Roll Number Not Found’

A large number of students saw the message “Roll Number Not Found” on their screens while applying, which led to various rumours. The board clarified that this was not due to any technical error. As per the rules, the re-evaluation is a three-step process. This message appeared only for those students who had not applied for scanned copies of their answer sheets in the first stage. According to the rules, only those who completed the first stage were eligible to proceed further.

The CBSE administration has assured students and parents that the post-result process has been made fully transparent and student-friendly. For this, a dedicated helpdesk and grievance redressal system have been kept operational. The board maintains that all genuine complaints received are being addressed promptly, in line with the established rules and procedures.
