‘Arre Bhai Mujhe Nahi Mili Hai Naukri’: Sarthak Sidhant Denies IIT Kanpur Job Reports After CBSE OSM Row

Months after making headlines for highlighting alleged irregularities in the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) process, Ranchi-based student Sarthak Sidhant is once again trending online. This time, however, it is not because of a new revelation—but because of a misunderstanding. The 18-year-old has publicly clarified that he has not been hired by IIT Kanpur, despite several social media posts and media reports claiming otherwise.

How The Confusion Started

Sarthak first came into the spotlight after raising concerns about the Central Board of Secondary Education’s OSM tendering process. His posts attracted widespread attention and sparked discussions around transparency and digital security.

Recently, claims began circulating online that IIT Kanpur had rewarded him with a job offer following his work on the issue.

One such post came from a journalist, who wrote: “Sarthak Siddhant had exposed the irregularities in CBSE’s OSM on-screen marking. Age just 17 years. He had laid bare the claims of CBSE. Now, IIT Kanpur’s Director Manindra Agrawal has offered him a job at his institution.”

‘This Is Not True’

Sarthak was quick to respond. Quoting the post on X, he simply wrote: “This is not true.” However, the confusion continued even after the clarification. When reports citing a newspaper article were shared to support the claim, Sarthak once again stepped in to correct the narrative.

This time, his response was even more direct: “Arre bhai mujhe nhi mili hai naukri (I don’t have a job).” The post quickly gained traction, with many users appreciating his straightforward response while others questioned how the misunderstanding had spread so widely.

Who Actually Got The IIT Kanpur Job?

The reports appear to have confused Sarthak with another young student, Nisarga Adhikary.

Adhikary recently attracted attention after publishing a blog post outlining vulnerabilities in CBSE’s online systems. The post reportedly caught the attention of IIT Kanpur Director Manindra Agrawal.

Following that, Adhikary was appointed as an Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and threat intelligence engineer at IIT Kanpur’s technology innovation hub, C3iHub.

Speaking about the appointment, Agrawal said: “Nisarga Adhikary has been appointed as an engineer in our cybersecurity team. A few years ago, we had similarly recruited a couple of young engineers for the same team. I am not sure whether he is the youngest recruit at IIT Kanpur, but he is certainly among the youngest engineers to have been hired by the institute.”

What Will Nisarga Do At IIT Kanpur?

According to institute officials, Adhikary will work with IIT Kanpur’s cybersecurity team, focusing on analysing publicly available intelligence, identifying vulnerabilities in websites and applications, and helping organisations address potential security risks. The appointment is on a contractual basis under the institute’s cybersecurity programme.

Meanwhile, Sarthak has made it clear that while he appreciates the attention, the IIT Kanpur job story belongs to someone else.
