The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a national-level certification exam conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI). It is held to assess whether a law graduate has the basic knowledge and skills required to practise law in India.
After clearing the AIBE, candidates receive the Certificate of Practice (CoP), which legally allows them to appear in courts and practise as advocates across the country. The exam tests candidates on various legal subjects such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, Civil Procedure, Evidence Act, IPC, and more. It is not a competitive exam — it is only a qualifying test with a minimum passing score.
