CBSE Class 12 Compartment Exam 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education has released class 12 results 2026. A total of 85.20% of the students have passed the exam. Of the 17,68,968 students who took the exam, 15,07,109 passed. While around 163,800 students or 9.26% of the total students have been placed in the compartment exam category.

CBSE has released the class 12 supplementary exam 2026 schedule. The exam will be held on July 15, 2026, and it will take place in one day only.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2026: Who Can Apply?

These students can apply for the supplementary exam:

— Students who passed Class 12 in 2026 but want to improve marks in one subject.

— Students who appeared in 2026 and were placed in the Compartment category.

— Students who appeared in 2025 and were put in the Compartment category. This will be their final chance.

The board will start accepting LOC (List of Candidates) for the supplementary exam from June 2, 2026. Students who want to improve their marks or those in the compartment category can submit the LOC form. The form must be filled only online. After submission, no changes like adding or removing names or subjects will be allowed.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2026: Who Can Apply?

Regular students must apply through their respective schools, while private candidates can apply via the link available on the official website – cbse.gov.in.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2026: Steps for Schools to Apply for Regular Students

Step 1: Log in to the CBSE portal and generate the list of compartment students.

Step 2: Select the Roll Number and subject(s) for each student.

Step 3: Finalise the selections and note the Application ID.

Step 4: Make the fee payment online.

Step 5: Generate and save the final list along with proof of fee payment.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2026: Steps for Private Candidates

Step 1: Visit the official website – cbse.gov.in.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link for ‘CBSE Compartment Exam 2026 – Private’

Step 3: Enter your Roll Number, School No., and Centre No. as mentioned on your last admit card.

Step 4: Select the subject(s) you wish to appear for.

Step 5: Enter your address and carefully choose the exam city.

Step 6: Submit the application and note your Application ID.

Step 7: Upload a recent photograph and signature in JPG format.

Step 8: Pay the examination fee online.

The supplementary examinations will be based on the 2025-26 syllabus, available at cbseacademic.nic.in. A consolidated marksheet will be issued only to those students who are declared passed after the Supplementary Examinations 2026.

To pass the CBSE Class 12 examinations, students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject. They must obtain a minimum of 33% separately in both theory and practical components. If a student scores less than 33% in the theory component, they will be declared failed or placed in the compartment category for that subject.

The CBSE Class 12 board examinations were conducted in India and abroad from February 17 to April 10, 2026, in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
