India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Who can apply?
Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board to be eligible for GDS recruitment. They must have studied and passed Mathematics and English at the Class 10 level.
Candidates must also have studied the local language required for the post up to Class 10. Therefore, simply passing Class 10 is not enough; applicants must also meet the prescribed language requirement for the state or post they are applying for.
Special language rules apply in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim and Nagaland. Candidates in these states may need to demonstrate knowledge of the relevant local tribal language or dialect in addition to the prescribed language requirements. Where the local language is not taught up to Class 10, candidates may have to submit a certificate from the designated authority confirming their knowledge of the language.
India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Application fee
The application fee for the recruitment is Rs 100. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD, women and transgender categories are exempt from paying the application fee.
GDS salary: How much will BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak earn?

These may include their Class 10 marksheet, identity proof, caste certificate, PwD/PwBD certificate, EWS certificate, date-of-birth proof and medical certificate issued by a government hospital or dispensary, wherever applicable.
Candidates who are required to provide proof of local or tribal language knowledge will also need to submit the relevant certificate. Applicants should ensure that the details entered in the application form exactly match the information mentioned in their official documents.
How to apply for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026?
Candidates will first have to complete the one-time registration (OTR) using their mobile number and email ID. After registration, they can log in using the registration number and password provided to them.
Applicants will then need to enter their personal details and Class 10 academic information, select their preferred post and department, and upload their photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
The photograph should be in JPG/JPEG format and between 30 KB and 100 KB, while the signature should be 20 KB to 100 KB in the same format.
Before submitting the form, candidates should carefully check all details and make corrections, if required. Applicants who are required to pay the application fee must complete the payment before submitting the form.
What happens after selection?
Being included in the selection list does not mean that the recruitment process is immediately complete. Candidates selected for GDS posts will have to undergo physical document verification.
Selected candidates will receive information through SMS or email and will be required to report for document verification within 15 days of selection. If their documents are found to be valid, a provisional contract offer will be generated through the system.
After receiving the provisional offer, candidates will have to complete the remaining pre-appointment formalities within 30 days. This includes basic training and other prescribed requirements. The appointment process will also involve police verification and submission of the required documents. The final appointment order will be issued after all necessary procedures are completed.
