The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has given a warm welcome to its 2026 batch with a specially prepared freshers’ kit, making the start of college life more exciting for new students. More than just a collection of useful items, the kit is meant to celebrate the beginning of a new journey filled with learning, friendships, campus experiences, and lasting memories.
The institute shared an unboxing video of the welcome kit on its official X account, calling it a package full of essentials, surprises, and the true spirit of IIT Madras. The video showed the contents of the kit, which included a backpack, water bottle, pen, cap, key chain, IIT Madras pocket guide, and several other useful items and goodies for students.

According to the institute, the kit has been thoughtfully put together by the Dean of Students office to help freshers feel at home from day one.
The IIT JoSAA counselling process concluded on July 21. IIT Madras has a total of 1118 seats across its UG programmes.
