While branches like Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering are usually among the popular choices made by students while planning to take admission across Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), over the past few years, IITs have started introducing many new undergraduate programmes.

These includes areas like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, industrial engineering, biotechnology, among others, reported Indian Express. Those who have cleared JEE Advanced, here are 10 newer courses offered across IITs.

IIT Madras’ B.Tech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM): This course combines engineering with computing. Students will learn how to use simulations, AI, and high-performance computing to study how materials and machines behave before building real prototypes.

IIT Madras’ B.Tech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering (iBME): This programme focuses on medical technology. It includes topics like health sensors, medical imaging, and biomedical devices used in healthcare.

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Energy Engineering (Abu Dhabi campus): This course focuses on clean and renewable energy systems like solar power, hydrogen energy, and smart electricity grids.

IIT Delhi B.Tech in Design: The programme combines engineering and design. Through this course, students will learn product design, research methods, and problem-solving for real-world systems.

IIT Hyderabad B.Tech in IC Design and Technology: Focused on chip design and semiconductor manufacturing, including tools used in making modern computer chips.
