The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has released the schedule for the 2027 Madhyamik examinations. As per the guidelines issued by the board, the Madhyamik examinations will begin from February 15 next year. The examinations will continue till February 25.

The exam will be held every day from 10:45 am to 2 pm. The first 15 minutes from 10:45 am to 11 am will be reserved only for reading the question paper.

According to the schedule published by the board, the first language exam will be held on February 15, second language on February 16, history on February 18, geography on February 19, mathematics on February 22, physical science on February 23, life science on February 24, and optional subject exams on February 25.

As per the schedule, there will be one day off before the history exam and two days off before the mathematics exam. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has also released detailed guidelines regarding the exam.

This year, the Madhyamik results were published on May 8. This year, the board published the results after 90 days. Usually, the board announces the next year’s exam schedule on the day of the results publication, but this time there was an exception. The 2026 Madhyamik exams began on February 2. They ended on February 12.

This year, the highest pass rate was in Kalimpong at 95.10 per cent, Purba Medinipur at 94.82 per cent, and Kolkata at 92.31 per cent. About 9.5 lakh candidates appeared for the Madhyamik examination this year. The marks of all their subjects were submitted to the board in April. The Madhyamik examination was brought forward due to the 2026 assembly elections.

Abhiroop Bhadra, a student of Sarada Vidya Mandir in Islampur, Uttar Dinajpur, secured the first position with an exceptional score of 99.71 per cent. Birbhum student Priyatosh Mukherjee came second with 696 marks. Three students shared the third position with 695 marks: Mainak Mandal of Bankura, Ankan Kumar Jana of Purba Medinipur, and Saur Jana of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission. Between the fifth and ninth ranks, many students obtained nearly identical marks. In total, 131 students earned a place in the top 10 list, underscoring the intense level of competition among students this year.
