The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has alleged irregularities in the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026, raising concerns over a possible paper leak. The student wing of the Congress has sought an immediate clarification from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and demanded an impartial probe into the matter.

NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar has alleged that as many as 82 out of 100 questions in the UPSC Prelims 2026 closely resembled study material prepared by coaching institute Anantam IAS. He claims that several questions appeared to replicate not only the content but also the wording and structure of the notes.

Jakhar further alleged that the study material was modified after the examination, with dates linked to the content also being altered. He said these developments have raised suspicions of possible collusion between coaching institutes and the examination process.

Calling the issue serious, the NSUI said it will write to the UPSC seeking a detailed explanation. The organisation has urged the Commission to conduct a transparent inquiry and issue a clarification to address concerns among aspirants.

“The trust of millions of young people in the country rests on prestigious exams like the UPSC, but today that very trust is under scrutiny. If 82 out of 100 questions come from the content of just one coaching institute, this is not mere coincidence but a matter warranting serious investigation. The youth want to know whether any injustice is being done alongside their years of hard work,” NSUI posted on X.

The UPSC has not issued any official response to the allegations so far.

These allegations come few days before the NEET UG re-exam, set to be held on Sunday, June 21. The exam originally held on May 3 was cancelled after 120 out of 180 questions matched a guess paper. Over 22 lakh had appeared for the medical entrance exam which was later cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.
