UGC NET Registrations: There has been a major change in the eligibility criteria this year. Students with a four-year undergraduate degree (FYUGP) can also appear for NET.

UGC NET June 2026: The National Testing Agency has released the UGC NET June 2026 notification, and the application process has started on April 29, 2026. Candidates can now fill out the online form by visiting the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. UGC NET is the examination through which candidates can become an Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across the country or obtain a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

The last date to apply for UGC NET is May 20 which is also the fee submission deadline. The application correction window will remain open from May 22 to 24. The exam city slip will be available on June 10 and the admit card will be issued on June 15. As per the official schedule, the exam will be held from June 22 to 30, 2026.

UGC NET June 2026: Application Fee

While filling out the form, candidates will have to pay the fee as per their category:

General Category: Rs 1150

EWS and OBC (NCL): Rs 600

SC, ST and Divyang: Rs 325

UGC NET June 2026: Who Can Apply?

Before applying for UGC NET 2026, carefully check your eligibility. You must have a minimum of 55% marks in a master’s degree from a recognised university. For OBC (NCL), SC, ST, and PwD candidates, 50% marks are required.

There has been a major change in the eligibility criteria this year. Students with a four-year undergraduate degree (FYUGP) can also appear for NET. They may appear in NET in the subject in which they wish to pursue a PhD, even if their graduation is in a different subject. However, they must have at least 75% marks or an equivalent grade in the four-year undergraduate degree.

Age limit for JRF: The maximum age should be 30 years. Candidates from reserved categories will get age relaxation as per rules.
