‘We Are Not Machines’: Angry Students Blast NTA For Giving Only 37 Days To Prep As New NEET UG Exam Date Gets Announced
A NEET aspirant who passed his Class 12 board examinations in second division with grace marks could have secured admission to a government medical college using this year’s leaked paper had the fraud not been caught and exam not cancelled, CNN-News18 has learnt.
CNN-News18 exclusively accessed the marksheet of the student, identified as Rishi Biwal, who scored just nine marks in Physics, 15 in Chemistry and 20 in Biology in the theory examinations, each conducted for 56 marks. Given the low scores, he cleared the board examinations through grace marks.
Investigators say had the alleged leak network not been exposed, Rishi would likely have scored over 600 marks in NEET—a score high enough to comfortably secure a seat in a government medical college.
The stark contrast between the Class 12 marksheet and the projected NEET performance has now become one of the most striking examples emerging from the ongoing investigation into the nationwide paper leak racket.
Rishi is the student for whom the Biwal family from Jamwaramgarh, which is at the centre of the NEET paper leak scam, had allegedly purchased the question paper.
News18 had reported on Thursday that multiple members of the Biwal household had cracked NEET and secured admissions into government medical colleges since 2025.
Siblings Vikas, Pragati, Gunjan, Sania, and Palak passed the examination and secured admission to government colleges. According to reports, in the 2024 examination, these siblings’ scores were average, and their performance was unremarkable. However, in 2025, allegedly after obtaining the leaked paper, all of them scored marks reaching approximately 98 per cent.
The investigation also revealed that most of the children in the family suddenly achieved exceptionally high scores without having attended any major coaching institutes. This time around, preparations were also underway to provide the exam paper to Rishi who had not only passed Class 12 by grace marks but also scored a mere 43 per cent in Class 10.

Agencies suspect that had the paper leak scandal not come to light, Rishi too could have secured a high rank and gained admission to a government medical college.
The SOG has provided the CBI with information regarding approximately 150 students from Rajasthan. It is alleged that these students obtained the exam paper—either directly or indirectly—from accused Mangilal, Dinesh, and Vikas.
THE NEET PAPER LEAK
On May 12, the National Testing Agency (NTA) officially cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination, affecting over 22.79 lakh medical aspirants across India. The cancellation followed a major investigation into a “guess paper” leak containing questions nearly identical to the final exam. The central government has handed the entire investigation over to the CBI to track down the multi-state leak network.
The NTA initially received a whistleblower’s alert on May 7, four days after the exam took place on May 3. Investigative agencies discovered a handwritten “guess paper” or question bank that was circulated extensively on encrypted messaging platforms before the exam.
The NTA on Friday announced June 21 as the date for the re-examination.
