NEET UG Re-Exam: During its meeting on July 1, the Parliamentary Standing committee will review the conduct and outcomes of the re-NEET.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and the National Testing Agency (NTA) will brief the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports on the key lessons from the NEET-UG re-examination and the measures being taken to strengthen the examination system, reported PTI.
Sources said former ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan will also address the panel on the reforms proposed to improve the functioning of the NTA. Radhakrishnan heads the high-powered steering committee constituted by the Centre to oversee the implementation of recommendations aimed at strengthening the agency.
During its meeting on July 1, the committee will review the conduct and outcomes of the NEET-UG re-examination. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh is expected to brief members on the results of the re-test held on June 21. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi has also been invited to participate in the discussions.
The NEET-UG examination, initially conducted on May 3, was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak and was re-held on June 21. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the alleged leak.
The committee is also scheduled to deliberate on the growing role of artificial intelligence in education. Experts from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Delhi School of Artificial Intelligence will present their views on AI’s impact on education and recommend strategies to enhance students’ employability, sources told the news agency.
Among those expected to brief the panel are former National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) head Arun C. Mehta and former IIT Guwahati Director and ex-AICTE Chairman T. G. Sitharam.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports is currently chaired by Congress MP Mukul Wasnik, and this will be its first meeting under his leadership. He succeeded senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, who completed his tenure as committee chair on June 21.
The panel had previously summoned senior officials from the Ministries of Higher Education and Health, along with representatives of the NTA and the National Medical Commission (NMC), to examine issues related to the NEET-UG paper leak case and the CBSE’s on-screen marking system.
