Several candidates have alleged discrepancies in NIFT 2026 scorecards, attendance records and biometric verification procedures, prompting fresh scrutiny of the NTA.
NIFT 2026 result row deepens as students raise concerns over evaluation and exam process
NIFT Scores Row: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing fresh criticism after multiple students alleged irregularities in the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Examination 2026 results and examination process.
The row erupted after the testing agency declared the final NIFT 2026 results on June 3. Several candidates took to social media platforms, including Reddit and Instagram, claiming discrepancies in their scores, attendance records and evaluation.
A widely circulated Reddit post titled “NIFTEE Result 2026 Discrepancy” listed multiple concerns allegedly reported by students. According to the post, some candidates who believed they had performed well in the Situation Test received less than 10 marks.
A candidate also claimed that he received a score despite not appearing for the Stage 2 Situation Test. In contrast, another student alleged that he had attended the examination but were marked absent in the official scorecard.
Students have also questioned the evaluation process, alleging significant differences between expected and awarded marks. Many students alleged that their General Ability Test (GAT) scores differed substantially from calculations based on the official answer key.
Candidates also reported unexpectedly low scores in the Creative Ability Test (CAT), raising concerns about the transparency of the assessment process.
Several students alleged that biometric identification was either not conducted during Phase 1 or was absent entirely during the second stage of the admission process at some centres.
“These irregularities have seriously compromised the integrity of the examination and are directly affecting students’ admission prospects and futures,” the Reddit user wrote, adding, “We hope this issue can be brought to light and we get justice.”
Responding to the post, another user asked, “I want to ask one thing, did they take your biometrics during stage 2? Because they didn’t take mine and at my centre, is this why its happening?”
On social media, candidates suggested that lapses in biometric verification may have contributed to attendance-related discrepancies. Some students claimed that candidates who did not appear for the examination were shown scores, while others who attended were marked absent.
Screenshots circulating online purportedly show a conversation through the official NTA India WhatsApp channel in which an individual identifying himself as the NTA Director General sought details of grievances related to NIFT results.
According to the screenshots, the agency acknowledged receiving a small number of complaints regarding candidates being marked absent and indicated that such cases would be verified. The messages also suggested that concerns regarding marking and scores would be examined, though evaluation decisions ultimately rest with subject experts and examiners.
However, the authenticity of the screenshots has not been independently verified, and the NTA has not issued a public statement specifically addressing the allegations.
The latest row comes at a time when the testing agency is already facing scrutiny over the cancellation of NEET UG 2026 following alleged question paper leaks, as well as concerns raised over other national-level examinations.
The NIFT admission process comprises two stages – the General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT), followed by a Situation Test for shortlisted candidates.
With admission processes underway, students have urged both NIFT and the NTA to investigate the reported discrepancies and provide clarity on the issues, saying the outcome could significantly impact their admission prospects and academic future.
