NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to states to ensure adequate transportation for candidates on June 21, the day of the exam.

NEET UG Re-Exam 2026: The NEET UG re-exam is scheduled for June 21. In view of the intense heat and rising temperatures, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to the chief ministers, lieutenant governors, and administrators of all states and union territories, seeking their cooperation to ensure the exam is conducted smoothly, transparently, and fairly, the Education Ministry announced on Monday.
In a letter, the Education Minister noted that extreme heat and heatwave-like conditions currently prevail in many states. Therefore, ensuring the safety and convenience of students at examination centres is crucial. He urged states to issue necessary instructions to district administrations and schools, colleges, and universities designated as examination centres so that examinees do not face any difficulties.
The letter stressed that exam centres must provide facilities such as clean drinking water, adequate seating, fans and coolers, clean toilets, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted power supply, and portable toilets if required. It also calls for proper crowd management and medical assistance for candidates and their parents.
Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the welfare and safety of students is the government’s top priority. He appealed to states to ensure adequate transportation for candidates on June 21, the day of the exam, so that they do not face any difficulty in reaching their examination centres.
“In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions, I request you to kindly issue appropriate instructions to the District Authorities and all schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions hosting the examination in your State/UT to ensure the availability of essential basic amenities for the convenience of candidates. These may include safe drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functional fans/coolers, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity supply, and portable toilets, wherever required,” the letter read.
It is worth noting that the NEET-UG 2026 exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3. However, after the exam, allegations of paper leaks surfaced in several states, leading to the decision to cancel the exam on May 12. The exam was held at over 5,400 examination centres in 551 cities across the country and 14 cities abroad, with more than 22 lakh students participating. Now, the central government and the NTA are taking extra precautions for the re-examination to maintain the confidence of students and parents in the examination process.
