FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) offers excellent career opportunities for candidates looking for a secure Central Government job. It is responsible for maintaining food safety standards, regulating food businesses, and ensuring that safe and quality food reaches consumers across India. Every year, FSSAI recruits candidates for different technical and non-technical posts through a competitive selection process.

Some of the popular posts include Technical Officer, Food Safety Officer (FSO), Assistant, Junior Assistant, Assistant Manager, and Personal Assistant. These jobs offer good salaries, government allowances, job security, and opportunities for career growth.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. For technical posts, qualifications in Food Technology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Microbiology, Chemistry, Medicine, or related science subjects are generally required. The usual age limit is 18 to 30 years, with age relaxation available for reserved categories as per government rules.

Selection Process

The FSSAI selection process mainly includes a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by an interview for some higher-level posts and document verification. The CBT consists of 120 questions carrying 120 marks. It includes Reasoning, English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Professional Knowledge. The Professional Knowledge section carries the highest weightage with 60 marks, making it the most important part of the exam for technical posts. For some posts, such as assistant director, there are no written exams.

Salary Expectations

The salary depends on the post and pay level. Junior Assistants usually earn between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 per month, while Technical Officers and Food Safety Officers can receive Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,50,000 per month. Employees also get benefits like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), medical facilities, pension, and paid leave.

Those selected for the post of Assistant Director in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India will get a salary ranging from Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500 per month under Pay Level-10. Similarly, Administrative Officer will get Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100 per month under Pay Level-8.
