From 522 To 95, 305 To 64: NEET UG Aspirants Allege Huge Score Discrepancies, Move Court | Education and Career News

NEET-UG 2026 Re-examination Results: Two medical aspirants from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are moving their respective high courts alleging massive discrepancies between their calculated scores and the marks awarded by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
On Tuesday, the Madhya Pradesh High Court granted the Centre a week’s time to file its response in a petition filed by Lokendra Singh Khadia, a student from Jhabua district. Khadia claimed that based on his official OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet and the NTA’s answer key, he should have secured 305 marks, but the result declared by the agency awarded him only 64 marks, reported PTI.
During the hearing before Justices Subodh Abhyankar and Alok Awasthi at the Indore bench, Additional Solicitor General Romesh Dave, appearing for the Centre, sought a week’s time to obtain instructions and file a reply. The court accepted the request and posted the matter for hearing on July 28.
According to the petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Abhinav Dhanodkar, the plea also challenges the formation and constitutional validity of the NTA, arguing that it is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and not a statutory body created by Parliament. The petition seeks a judicial review of the agency’s legal status.
Maharashtra Candidate Alleges Discrepancy
In a similar case, a NEET-UG aspirant from Maharashtra’s Beed has approached the Bombay High Court, alleging that the NTA awarded him 95 marks instead of the 522 marks he calculated using his OMR sheet and the official answer key.
The petitioner, Soham Nitin Gavte, said he attempted 148 questions in the June 21 re-examination, with 136 correct and 12 incorrect answers. Under the NEET marking scheme, he claimed he should have scored 522 out of 720, but the scorecard issued by the NTA reflected only 95 marks, as per the PTI report.
Gavte said he emailed the NTA on July 17 and 18 seeking clarification and correction of the alleged discrepancy but received no response, prompting him to file a writ petition before the Aurangabad bench through advocates Sudarshan Salunke and Mahendra Gandle. The matter is scheduled to be heard on July 23.
The NEET-UG examination conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak. A re-examination was held on June 21 under heightened security, and the results were declared on July 16. The alleged paper leak is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has rejected allegations of discrepancies in NEET UG Re-Examination 2026 results, stating that candidates’ OMR sheets and marks have been verified and declared scores are accurate.
