CTET September 2026: This year, CBSE has made a significant change in the CTET process. Candidates will not be able to choose their preferred examination city.

The last date to apply for CTET 2026 is June 10, 2026 up till 11:59 PM.
CTET September 2026: The notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2026 has been released. Online applications will start today, May 11, 2026. Candidates can fill the application form by visiting the official CTET website: ctet.nic.in.
The last date to apply is June 10, 2026 up till 11:59 PM. The last date for fee payment (Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking) is June 10, 2026 till 11:59 PM. The correction in application form June 15, 2026 to June 18, 2026. The admit cards can be downloaded two days before the exam begins. The test will be held on September 6, 2026 (Sunday) with results expected to be declared by the end of October. It will be held in 132 cities across the country and in 27 languages.
No Exam City Option In CTET Application
This year, CBSE has made a significant change in the CTET process. Candidates will not be able to choose their preferred examination city. Exam cities will be allotted randomly.
“It is informed to all applicants that the option to select an exam city is not available on the online application portal. The examination city to the applicants will be allotted by CBSE on random basis. The request for change of allotted examination city, for whatsoever reason, shall not be accepted. Similarly, in case the examination is conducted on 05th September 2026 in any city, the examination date 05 September or 06 September will be allotted to candidates on random basis. The request for change of allotted examination date, for whatsoever reason, shall not be accepted,” reads the official notice.
Eligibility For CBSE CTET 2026
CTET Paper 1 (for Classes 1 to 5)
Any one of the following:
– 12th pass with minimum 50% marks and two-year D.El.Ed.
Or
– 12th pass with 50% marks and 4-year B.Ed.
Or
– 12th pass with 50% marks and two-year D.El.Ed. (Special Education)
CTET Paper 2 (for Classes 6 to 8)
Any one of the following:
– Graduation and two-year D.El.Ed.
Or
– 12th pass with 50% marks and 4-year B.Ed.
Or
– 12th pass with 50% marks and 4-year BA/BSc/BAEd/BScEd
Or
– Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education)
CTET 2026 Application Fees
Application for General, OBC-NCL category candidates if they wish to appear for either paper 1 or 2 is Rs 1000 and Rs 1200 if they want to appear for both papers. While SC, ST, and Divyang category candidates have to pay Rs 500 for one paper and Rs 600 for both papers.
How To Apply For CTET 2026?
Step 1 – Visit the official website at ctet.nic.in.
Step 2 – Click on the “Apply Online” link for CTET 2026.
Step 3 – Carefully fill in your personal and educational details in the online form.
Step 4 – Upload a recent scanned photograph and signature in the required format.
Step 5 – Pay the CTET application fee using the available online payment options.
Step 6 – Submit the application form and download a copy for future reference.
CTET 2026 Qualifying Marks
To qualify the CTET exam, candidates must secure the following minimum marks out of 150: General category candidates need 90 out of 150 (60%), while SC, ST category candidates must obtain 82 out of 150 (55%).
