Several IIT, NIT aspirants claim they are facing uncertainty due to delays in CBSE re-evaluation process. The top engineering institutes in the country require a minimum of 75% aggregate for general/OBC and 65% for SC/ST candidates, along with JEE (Main) or JEE (Advanced) qualification. However, some students who have cracked the difficult JEE Advanced exam said they were unable to score the minimum 75% marks in the CBSE 12th boards.
Some students allege the revised marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics could be crucial for admissions, while JoSAA counselling is underway. Concerns have been raised over alleged glitches in CBSE’s new OSM system, with several JEE-qualified candidates currently below the board cut-off and relying on re-evaluation.
In the CBSE 12th results 2026, Physics has become the subject with the highest number of complaints. Many students have raised concerns about missing marks in the On-Screen Marking (OSM) process, very strict checking, lack of marks for correct steps, and even cases where the wrong answer sheet was uploaded.
Taking to X, one user wrote, “Achieved AIR 234 in JEE Advanced but failed to get 75% in CBSE Boards — all because of poor marking and mismanagement.” Another said, “My daughter cleared JEE Advanced but fell short of 75%. We’ve requested re-evaluation — please reassess fairly.” A third user added that students who cracked one of the toughest exams are being deemed ineligible due to board marks.
Achieved AIR 234 in JEE ADVANCED. But failed to get 75 % in CBSE Boards. All because of poor marking and mismanagement of CBSE.I Blame my Compromised PM for this. Feels like end of the road to me 💔.

IIT Roorkee Provides Relaxation
IIT Roorkee has meanwhile announced that students currently below the 75% (or 65% for reserved categories) threshold can still participate in JoSAA 2026 counselling and receive seat allotments based on their JEE rank. Admission will be confirmed only if they submit a revised scorecard meeting the criteria by July 15, 2026. This provisional measure aims to ensure affected candidates are not excluded while CBSE re-evaluation results are pending.
