After students had been facing technical glitches, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline to request scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets for the 2026 board examinations. Candidates can now apply for scanned copies of their answer books until May 23, 2026, instead of the earlier deadline of May 22, 2026.

“It is hereby informed to all stakeholders that due to a technical problem encountered on the CBSE website for Post-Verification Facilities and to ensure sufficient time to the students, the last date for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books has been extended…” reads the official notice.

CBSE has also announced that students who are not satisfied with their Class 12 results will be able to apply for verification of marks and re-evaluation through an online system. The application window for these services will remain open from May 26 to May 29.

This year, the board has reduced the fees for post-result services. The cost for obtaining scanned or photocopies of evaluated answer sheets has been brought down to Rs 100, and the verification fee has also been fixed at Rs 100. For re-evaluation, students will need to pay Rs 25 per question. CBSE further stated that if a student’s marks increase after the re-evaluation process, the re-evaluation fee will be refunded.

The revised fee structure has been introduced in response to feedback from students, parents, and teachers, particularly concerns related to the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and perceived inconsistencies in scoring in this year’s Class 12 results.

The re-evaluation process has come under greater scrutiny this year because of concerns over the newly introduced digital On-Screen Marking system. Students and parents are demanding more transparency and better access to evaluated answer scripts after the results are announced. They have called for physical re-evaluation of answer copies or, failing that, the awarding of grace marks.
