CBSE Admits Possible Errors In Evaluation, Opens Class 12 Answer Sheet Review Window From May 19 | Education and Career News

CBSE acknowledged the possibility of an error after the On-Screen Marking (OSM) process used to evaluate Class 12 results sparked controversy.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged the possibility of “evaluation errors” in the On-Screen Marking (OSM) for the Class 12 results, which sparked controversy after the overall pass percentage of 85.20 per cent, a drop of 3.19 points from last year.
Soon after the results were declared, several parents and students alleged that the newly implemented digital evaluation process may have resulted in unexpectedly low scores. Several students who secured high percentiles in JEE Main claim they received unexpectedly low marks in the board examinations.
Speaking to ANI, CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said, “The CBSE is an institution that works in the best interest of the students, and we operate with complete transparency. We evaluate approximately 1.25 crore answer scripts; there is a possibility that an error may occur somewhere.”
Bhardwaj further said students would be allowed to access copies of their evaluated answer scripts from May 19 to May 22 through the board’s official process.

When Will Students Be Able To Access Answer Sheets?
Bhardwaj said that during the first window, students can request a copy of their evaluated answer scripts from May 19 to 22. Once they receive their answer scripts, they can review them to check if there are any errors within them.
He also advised students to make a note in case of errors. A second window will open from May 26 to 29, during which students can report any issues or discrepancies in their answer scripts that need to be addressed.

“If any error is detected—and if our panel of experts confirms that an error indeed exists—that error will be rectified immediately. Furthermore, if correcting that error results in the student being entitled to higher marks, those additional marks will be duly awarded,” he added.
