At a time when the country continues to witness controversies and delays surrounding the national-level NEET examination process, Karnataka’s Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has set a new benchmark by announcing final semester engineering exam results within just 10 minutes of the examination ending. Bengaluru is used to instant—under 10 minutes—delivery by quick commerce firms. But now students have got their exam results in under 10 minutes.
The university created a record on Friday after releasing the BE and BTech final semester results at 5.40 pm, merely 10 minutes after the exams concluded at 5.30 pm. A total of 56,192 students appeared for the examinations, with VTU recording an impressive 99.98 per cent result.
The results were jointly announced by VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar and Registrar (Evaluation) Prof UJ Ujwal. The university also completed the entire evaluation process eight days earlier compared to previous years, further breaking its own records. In another first, the university directly sent the results to students’ mobile phones immediately after declaration.
Speaking on the achievement, VTU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar said the university has consistently remained ahead in adopting technology-driven systems aimed at benefiting students.
“VTU has always been at the forefront of adopting technology. This result itself is proof that VTU is student-friendly. Announcing results within just 10 minutes of exam completion is no easy task. I congratulate the administrative staff, exam section staff, and affiliated college staff who made this possible. Final-year students eagerly await results for jobs and higher education, so we ensured a quick announcement,” he said.
Highlighting the university’s track record, the vice-chancellor noted that this was the fourth consecutive year VTU had significantly reduced result processing time. He said that in 2023, the university announced results for the 2019 batch within 24 hours after the examination. In May 2024, the results for the 2020 batch involving 37,011 students were declared within three hours. In May 2025, VTU further improved the turnaround time by announcing results for the 2021 batch, which had 50,321 students, within just one hour of exam completion. This year, the university surpassed all previous records by declaring the results within 10 minutes.
Registrar (Evaluation) Prof UJ Ujwal said the university’s digital evaluation system played a key role in achieving the feat.
“We adopted digital evaluation of answer scripts and prepared in advance to announce results quickly. With everyone’s cooperation, this was possible,” he said.
The rapid declaration of results has drawn attention nationwide, particularly amid ongoing debates over delays, transparency, and operational challenges in competitive examinations such as NEET.
