The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has inaugurated an Experience Centre at its Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi, to make learning more interactive and engaging for students. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the centre on October 27, 2026.

Spread across 6,000 square feet, the centre features 12 zones and 21 exhibits designed to help students explore India’s educational heritage, emerging technologies, scientific concepts and future career opportunities.

CBSE Experience Centre Promotes Practical Learning

Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasised the need to move beyond rote learning and an excessive focus on examination marks. He said education should recognise students’ individual interests, abilities and learning capacities.

The minister noted that the centre reflects the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes experiential and holistic learning. He stressed that students should understand scientific concepts through observation and experimentation rather than relying solely on textbooks.

Joshi also highlighted the role of Atal Tinkering Labs in encouraging innovation and scientific thinking. According to him, 10,000 such labs are operational across the country, with the government planning to establish 50,000 additional labs.

The centre begins with Shiksha Ki Kahani, a film tracing India’s educational journey from the ancient gurukul system and historic institutions such as Nalanda to modern schools and digital classrooms.

Another section showcases CBSE’s history through archival photographs and records dating back to 1935. Students can also explore an interactive geological timeline illustrating Earth’s history across millions of years.

Career exploration is a key feature of the facility. Exhibits such as Career Explorer, Future of Professions and Magic Mirror: Future You help visitors discover career options and understand how jobs may evolve in the future.

The centre also features holographic interactions with eminent personalities, including Dr BR Ambedkar and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. RFID-enabled smart cards allow visitors to interact with exhibits, participate in activities and access personalised takeaways.

A dedicated kiosk based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book Exam Warriors encourages students to develop a positive approach to examinations, focusing on confidence and stress management.

The centre concludes with Eduverse, an immersive experience combining motion-based interaction and multisensory elements. Visitors can explore forests, oceans and the Himalayas before travelling virtually to the Moon and other planets. The experience highlights the interconnectedness of natural systems.

Joshi expressed confidence that the centre would make education more practical and student-centred. The initiative aims to nurture curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills while preparing students for emerging career opportunities and India’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
