The scale of India’s central recruitment operations is massive. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), National Testing Agency (NTA), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) run large-scale recruitment drives annually. SSC alone conducted 20 examinations in 2024-25, with 20.5 crore candidates appearing, while the railway recruitment process saw about 45 million candidates take computer-based tests across the 2024 and 2025 examination cycle. The NTA, which handles both university entrance and recruitment tests, conducted 48 examinations for 8.01 million candidates in 2024.
