Varsha Patel’s husband left his engineering job and started a business in MP’s Maihar so that Varsha could continue pursuing her dreams.

When determination, passion, and perseverance come together, even the toughest challenges cannot stand in the way of success. Varsha Patel, a native of Maihar in Madhya Pradesh, has proved this through her remarkable journey. After clearing the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination on her third attempt, she was selected as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). What makes her achievement even more inspiring is that she appeared for her interview with her 20-day-old daughter, Shreeja, in her arms. Her performance earned her the top position among women candidates.
Varsha completed her early education in Damoh, securing 75% in Class 12, and later earned a B.Sc. in Biology. She then began preparing for competitive examinations, relying largely on self-study and attending coaching classes in Indore for only six months.
A hardworking and determined student since childhood, Varsha continued pursuing her dream despite numerous personal and academic challenges. After her father’s death during her college years, she moved from Damoh to Maihar. The difficulties of commuting to college meant she could not complete several practical assignments and even received an ATKT. Yet, she refused to let these setbacks define her future.
Her husband, Sanjay Patel, played a crucial role in supporting her ambitions. An engineer by profession, he left his job and started a business in Maihar so that Varsha could continue pursuing her dreams, she told Local 18. He said he is overjoyed to see her dream become a reality after years of balancing studies, family responsibilities, and motherhood.
Even after pregnancy and a C-section, Varsha continued preparing for the MPPSC examination. She experienced health difficulties and mood swings during pregnancy, but her family remained a constant source of encouragement. Her husband and sister-in-law accompanied her to the interview, taking care of her newborn daughter while she faced the interview panel.
However, becoming a DSP is not the end of her journey. Her next ambition is to become a Deputy Collector, and she is already preparing for the MPPSC examination for the fourth time.
Varsha’s message to aspiring candidates is simple: never abandon your preparation halfway. Success takes time, patience, and consistent hard work. Her own journey—from facing academic setbacks and personal losses to becoming a DSP while caring for a newborn—stands as a powerful reminder that persistence can turn even the most difficult circumstances into stepping stones toward success.
