Panshul Bansal from Faridabad, Haryana, has become an inspiration for students who lose confidence after facing failure. He never believed that one exam could decide his future. Although he did not get the score he wanted in his first NEET attempt, he did not give up. Instead, he worked harder and came back stronger. In the NEET UG 2026 re-exam, he scored 715 out of 720 marks, secured All India Rank (AIR) 2, and became one of the top scorers in the country.
Panshul loved studying from a young age. When he was in Class 7, he decided he wanted to become a doctor. From that day, he stayed focused on his goal. Two years ago, he even told one of his teachers that he would become one of the NEET toppers. At that time, it was just a dream, but he worked hard every day to make it come true.
A disappointing first attempt
Panshul was confident before his first NEET exam and expected a good score. However, he became stressed during the exam. He calculated that he would score around 696 marks. It was a good score, but it was below his expectations.
For the second attempt, he returned to his studies with a better mindset. He started treating every mock test like the real exam and focused on learning instead of worrying about marks.
Re-NEET became a fresh opportunity
When the chance to take the NEET re-exam came, Panshul saw it as a new beginning. This time, he was not under pressure to top the exam. He trusted his preparation and stayed calm. That confidence helped him score 715 marks and secure AIR 2.
Preparation strategy
Unlike many students, Panshul did not completely stop using social media or give up his personal life. After every exam cycle, he spent time with friends. In his free time, he watched YouTube, enjoyed animated cartoons, and relaxed with friends. He believes that keeping the mind fresh is important for better preparation.
Even though AI tools are becoming common in education, Panshul did not use them. Whenever he found a topic difficult, he asked his teachers for help and studied it carefully using books. He believes this method helped him build a stronger understanding of concepts.
Panshul credits his family for supporting him throughout his journey. His father, Sanjeev Kumar Bansal, is a businessman who studied naval engineering, and his mother, Monica Bansal, is a company secretary. According to Panshul, his parents never forced him to become a doctor or choose a particular career. They always gave him the freedom to make his own decisions, which made studying feel like his own choice rather than a burden.
Panshul performed well throughout his academic journey. He scored 94% in both his Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. He also achieved a 99.5 percentile in JEE Main 2026. Even with that achievement, he stayed committed to his dream of becoming a doctor and continued to focus on NEET.
Panshul believes success does not depend on studying for long hours. Instead, he says students should study with full focus and use their time wisely. He spent more time solving difficult questions and taking mock tests instead of simply sitting with books for many hours.
Along with studies, Panshul continued to enjoy his hobbies. He loves playing the piano and says music helped him reduce exam stress. He has earned a Grade 4 certificate from Rock School and a Grade 2 certificate from Trinity College London. According to him, having a hobby helped him stay relaxed and perform better during his preparation.
