According to students, sudden announcement of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam within a short timeframe has triggered significant mental stress and anxiety among candidates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on Sunday, June 21. However, just a week ahead of the exam, over 1,400 students have formally requested that the test be postponed. Several aspirants have also taken to microblogging site, X, to seek deferment of the exams.
Advocate Vineet Jindal, who has been assisting CBSE students with Class 12 revaluation grievances, has submitted a representation to the Ministry of Education and the NTA on behalf of NEET aspirants from across the country.
In his letter, Jindal stated that students are not responsible for the circumstances that led to the cancellation and rescheduling of the examination, yet are bearing the brunt of the disruption. He highlighted that the sudden announcement of the re-exam within a short timeframe has triggered significant mental stress, anxiety, emotional strain, sleep disturbances, and loss of concentration among candidates.
He further emphasised that NEET, being one of the most competitive examinations in the country, requires months of rigorous preparation, and the limited time provided for the re-exam is inadequate for effective revision.
“Today, I submitted a representation to the Ministry of Education and NTA on behalf of 1,467 NEET aspirants from across India seeking postponement of the proposed Re-NEET examination scheduled on 21 June 2026. Students are not responsible for the paper leak incident, yet they are being forced to bear the burden of uncertainty, anxiety, and disruption. A fair opportunity, adequate preparation time, and consideration of students’ mental well-being are essential,” he wrote.

Additionally, concerns have been raised about candidates from remote and rural areas, who require sufficient time to arrange travel, accommodation, and other logistics. Some students have also reported health issues stemming from prolonged stress and uncertainty.
Through the representation, a total of 1,467 students have urged authorities to postpone the NEET UG re-exam by at least a month and announce a revised schedule with adequate notice.
Several X users have also highlighted how the re-NEET has taken a toll on their mental health and demanded it be postponed by a month.

The re-examination is being conducted after the original NEET UG 2026 test, held on May 3, was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. More than 22 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam. Admit cards for the re-test have already been issued.
