PSEB Class X Results: The Class 10 results declared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) have raised concerns in Ludhiana, which emerged as the lowest-performing district in Punjab this year in terms of overall pass percentage among regular students.

According to official figures released by the board, Ludhiana was the only district in the state where the pass percentage fell below the 90% mark, placing it at the bottom of the district-wise performance rankings.

Ludhiana’s Pass Percentage Drops Sharply

A total of 36,872 regular students from Ludhiana appeared for the PSEB Class X examinations this year. Out of them, 32,888 students successfully cleared the exams, resulting in a pass percentage of 89.20%, as reported by The Times Of India.

The result marks a significant decline compared to the previous academic session. In 2024-25, the district had recorded a much stronger performance, with 38,387 students appearing for the examination and 36,573 passing. The district had then achieved a pass percentage of 95.27%.

The latest figures indicate a noticeable drop of more than six percentage points in Ludhiana’s overall success rate within a year.

Border Districts Dominate State Rankings

While Ludhiana struggled, Punjab’s border districts emerged as the strongest performers in the state, securing the top five positions in the district rankings.

Amritsar recorded the highest pass percentage in Punjab this year. Out of 26,443 students who appeared for the examinations, 26,022 cleared them, resulting in an impressive pass percentage of 98.41%.

Closely behind was Ferozepur, where 9,184 out of 9,334 students passed, taking the district’s success rate to 98.39%.

Pathankot also performed strongly, recording a pass percentage of 97.99%, with 5,716 students clearing the exam out of 5,833 candidates who appeared.

Similarly, Tarn Taran reported a pass percentage of 97.95% after 12,402 of the 12,662 appearing students passed the examination.

Gurdaspur completed the list of top-performing districts with a pass percentage of 97.84%.

Concern Over Academic Performance In Ludhiana

Education observers believe the sharp dip in Ludhiana’s performance may prompt closer scrutiny from education authorities and school administrations in the district. The fact that Ludhiana stood out as the only district below the 90% mark has intensified discussions around academic standards, student performance, and the effectiveness of exam preparation in schools across the district.

The contrast between Ludhiana’s results and the consistently high scores recorded by border districts has also drawn attention within academic circles.

Statewide Focus Likely On Improving Results

With Punjab’s overall Class 10 results showing strong performances from several districts, education authorities are expected to closely analyse the reasons behind Ludhiana’s comparatively weak outcome. Officials may review factors such as attendance, school infrastructure, academic support systems, and examination preparedness to understand the decline in performance and identify areas requiring improvement ahead of the next academic session.
