Anbumani Demands 15,000 Group 4 Vacancies
Meanwhile, PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss has criticised the government for announcing what he described as a low number of vacancies despite a large number of posts remaining vacant in government departments.
Anbumani said more than 2 lakh Group 4 posts are vacant in government departments and questioned why only a small number of vacancies have been announced for the current recruitment drive. He also pointed to the recruitment figures of the past six years. According to him, only 23,733 Group 4 posts were filled during this period, averaging around 3,955 appointments a year, reported News18 Tamil.
He argued that the number of appointments is inadequate given the demand for government employment in the state. Anbumani also criticised the previous DMK government, alleging that although it had promised to provide government jobs to 5.5 lakh people during the 2021 Assembly election, only 94,191 people were provided government employment during its five-year tenure.
He further alleged that the current government had also failed to meet expectations despite promises to fill vacant government posts.
According to Anbumani, around 1.3 crore young people in Tamil Nadu are seeking jobs suited to their educational qualifications, while nearly 6 lakh people enter the job market every year.
He said the government should consider the demand for public-sector employment while deciding recruitment numbers. Anbumani has urged the state government to increase the number of vacancies in the ongoing TNPSC Group 4 recruitment drive from 6,574 to at least 15,000.
