The online application process for the Bihar School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) which was scheduled to begin in September 1 has been postponed to September 21, 2026.

In a post on X, the BPSC said that under Advertisement No. 14/2026 for the fourth phase of the School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0), the application process is likely to commence from September 21 following the revised advertisement and necessary changes to the online application system.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Vacancies Increased

The BPSC had initially announced 32,388 vacancies for school teachers from primary to higher secondary levels, covering Classes 1 to 12.

The vacancy count has since been revised following the addition of 111 music teacher posts for Classes 9 and 10 by the Bihar government. According to the revised figures mentioned in the recruitment update, the total number of vacancies will be 33,385. The revised advertisement will provide details of the vacancies category-wise.

Who Can Apply for BPSC TRE 4.0?

The BPSC has specified the following eligibility requirements for candidates:

Educational qualification: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or hold a graduation or postgraduate degree in the relevant subject, depending on the post.

Professional qualification: Candidates must have a D.El.Ed, B.Ed or an integrated BA-B.Ed qualification, as applicable to the post.

Eligibility test: For primary and middle school posts, candidates must have cleared CTET Paper 1/2 or BTET. For secondary and higher secondary posts, candidates must have qualified STET Paper 1/2.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Age Limit

The age of candidates will be calculated as of January 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories, including women, OBC and SC/ST categories, will be eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit as per Bihar government rules.

Primary and Middle School Teachers: 18 to 37 years

Secondary and Higher Secondary Teachers: 21 to 37 years

Applicants will have to enter their educational and other required details, upload their photograph and signature, and pay the prescribed application fee. The fee mentioned in the recruitment information is Rs 100. After submitting the application, candidates should download and retain a printout of the completed form for future reference.

This means that the BPSC TRE set to be conducted from September 22 to 27 will also see a revision of the examination schedule. Candidates are advised to regularly check the BPSC website for updates regarding the revised examination dates and recruitment notification.
